Note: Unlike the UT206B and UT208B models, the UT205E does not include a temperature probe as standard .
Set the rotary switch to the appropriate current position
Press the trigger to open the 42mm clamp jaws and clamp around one conductor only
The meter automatically selects the appropriate range (auto-ranging)
Read the current value on the 6000-count display—up to 1000A AC or DC
Note: For best accuracy, center the conductor within the jaws
Set the rotary switch to the V position
Press SELECT to choose between AC and DC measurement
Connect test leads in parallel to the circuit under test
Measure up to 1000V AC or DC with high precision
Set the rotary switch to the LoZ V~ position
This mode uses low input impedance (~2kΩ) to eliminate "ghost voltages"—capacitively coupled voltages that can cause false readings
Ideal for verifying whether a circuit is truly de-energized
Warning: Continuous measurement time above 220V should not exceed 30 seconds
Set the rotary switch to the LPF ACV position
The low pass filter (cutoff ~2.5kHz) blocks high-frequency noise from variable frequency drives (VFDs) and inverters
Provides accurate voltage measurements on motor drive outputs
Manual ranging only for this function
Set the rotary switch to the NCV position
Bring the sensing end of the clamp jaws near a live conductor or outlet
The meter provides visual (multi-segment display) and audible alarm when AC voltage is detected
Safety Benefit: Allows quick verification of live circuits before physical contact
Set the rotary switch to the Ω/continuity/diode position
Press SELECT to cycle through resistance (Ω), continuity (buzzer), and diode test modes
For continuity, the buzzer sounds when resistance is low
Set the rotary switch to the capacitance position
Fully discharge capacitors before testing to avoid damage
Connect test leads in parallel with the capacitor
Measures up to 60mF—suitable for motor start capacitors and power supply filtering
Set the rotary switch to the appropriate position
Connect test leads to the signal source
Measure frequencies up to 1MHz or duty cycle from 10% to 90%
Press MAX/MIN button to enter maximum/minimum measurement mode
The meter records and displays the highest and lowest readings during the measurement period
Useful for monitoring fluctuating signals
Press REL to store the current reading as a reference value
Subsequent readings display the difference from the stored value
Zero Mode allows nulling out test lead resistance for low-resistance measurements
Short press HOLD to freeze the current reading on the display
Long press to turn the LCD backlight on/off
Dedicated Flashlight button turns on the built-in work light for dark environments
Meter automatically shuts down after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity to save battery
Can be disabled (check manual for procedure)
